Harenchi Gakuen

Based on Go Nagai's ground-breaking comic strip, Harenchi Gakuen incorporated a great deal of panchira (panty shots) and sukarto meguri (skirt flipping), with most of the lead actresses revealing their underwear at one point or another. The film even concluded with a Benny Hill-style chase scene, complete with attractive young starlets losing their clothes to a runaway bus:

More chaos ensues when the girls chase after the driver, demanding the return of their clothing (along with their dignity, one supposes), ably assisted by the local constable and various other aggrieved parties:

According to Wikipedia and other sources, the original manga was highly controversial for its time (mainly due to its breaking of innumerable social taboos), though by 1970, the furor seemed to have died down to a dull roar. The film was successful enough to warrant three sequels, all of which employed the same basic formula.

Hey, Look!!

Look Magazine, 22 November, 1938: with Germany re-arming and war looming on the horizon, Claudette Colbert still managed to steal the cover spot :) The image seemed to be based on a publicity still from Zaza (odd, considering the film wasn't released until 1939; no doubt Paramount was eager to cash in on the spectacle of the talented Ms Colbert revealing her frilly underthings).

It's interesting to compare this cover shot with stills and posters from the same movie (both B&W and color). Unfortunately, the Hays Code didn't allow for garters and stocking tops back in the day...

So, quadruplets are usually defined as four children born from the same mother at the same time (generally identical in appearance). Here we have the aptly named Quaid girls taking a candid selfie on their eighteenth birthday...

...followed by the exact same four; washed, scrubbed and blow-dried for their boudoir shoot (and wearing as little as their Mom will allow). Amazing how a touch of lipstick and gloss can change your entire outlook, isn't it? :)

WK in Lingerie: Season Premier

It's way back to the first season premier of WK in Lingerie: "June and July 2006 will go down in history as the season of football, women and Veronica (loose google translation)." Short as the vid-clip was, they pulled out all the stops in their marketing campaign, briefly show the girls stripping to their bras and knickers before a crown of ravenous spectators. Apologies for the low-res vid-clip, would love to see a better quality version.

2022 Winter Spectacular

Yes, the title says it all. Our good friend Tisa has produced yet another show-stopping extravaganza to ring in the new year, and we guarantee it'll rank high on everybody's Christmas list. Clocking in at a staggering thirty minutes, it is amongst the most innovative of Tom's animated films, featuring superb choreography, exceptional costume designs and impeccable camera work from start to finish. Gloire Soit!

Today, we have some old screencaps from the Glory Bee cartoons of the 1940s. According to Mark Donstein's Toonopedia, the animated shorts of the postwar period were collected and restored by Le Cine Achive De Paris and released in a DVD Boxed Set in 2006 (proving that French preservation societies treat animated material with far greater respect than the original American studios do themselves). However, as the Glory Bee Collection is only available in Europe, screencaps from the series are virtually unknown in America.

2022 Halloween Show

OK, we're a few days late reposting this one, but Tisa's 2022 Halloween Show is an absolute blockbuster! Clocking in at a spectacular twenty-six minutes, it features (at least) seven classic dance numbers with some of the most innovative choreography and camerawork we've seen thus far. Be sure to watch to the very end; the final bows and encores are well worth the wait. Our heartfelt thanks to Tom for this superb animated extravaganza.

Well, actually, it's perennial straight man Henry McGee this time, blowing on the tuba in 1977's At The Streaker's Ball (performed by the Little Dimpton Milk Marketing Board, no less). In addition to Lorraine Doyle having her dress blown up, Suzy Mandel loses her skirt to Benny's baton during the inevitable closing fiasco.

Narcisso

Narcisso seems to have been the French answer to Colpo Grosso, replicating the original's format to some degree (while outdoing its predecessor in at least one important respect). 

Dropping all pretense of The Big Win's game show atmosphere, Narcisso had beautiful French girls stripping down to their bare knickers (or less) while singing the latest Parisan chanson d'amour. 

And what did these talented young hopefuls receive for their efforts? Money? Fame? La Palme D'or? Nope. Apparently, they walked away with a bouquet of wildflowers and a home-cooked pizza!
