OK, this may seem a little off-topic, but bear with me. We now have AI programs that can alter the age of a photographic subject (and, in some cases, change the gender as well). The technology still has its flaws; the image posted below isn't perfect, but it's still incredibly good, considering that the original photo featured a middle-aged male. If this is what we're capable of doing now, imagine what we'll be able to accomplish in just a couple of years...

Contractual Obligations

Young Moira Mitchell takes a domestic position on an isolated British island, never realizing (until far too late) that her new employer has other plans for her. After moving in, Moira is forced to play a game of penalties which she can't possibly win.

Every time she loses, she must either remove an article of clothing - or go over her landlord's knee for a good, smart spanking. Needless to say, her options become severely limited once she's stripped all the way down to her knickers and stockings...

 

As the game progresses, Moira is forced to bare her bottom for the proverbial spanking of a lifetime, but her troubles don't end there. Now completely subject to her employer's authority, she is required to play game after game, day after day, always  with the same humiliating consequences.

Dream On (again)

A surprisingly clear screencap of The Dream Girls on The James Whale Radio Show (1991). So far as we can tell, they only made three appearances on TV (rather a pity, considering how good their act was), though we'd be more than willing to be proven wrong on that account.

More British "Strips"

British comics at their finest - John M. Burns' Eartha (News of the World, 1982). A recognized veteran whose credits ranged from Modesty Blaise to Judge Dredd, Burns was a master of the female form, never hesitating to kit out his frequently reluctant heroines in stockings and garters whenever the opportunity arose.

Mirror Image

Contrary to all appearances, beautiful Mailyn Otero is not dancing before a mirror. In actual fact, she's performing opposite gorgeous Pierina Neyra in this meticulously choreographed routine. HypnoSTRIP

Lillian Blanchard is a shy librarian who experiences periodic blackouts. Consultations with various medical experts yield no results; physically, she seems perfectly healthy and nobody can explain her "lost time" episodes.

The mystery deepens when she suddenly "awakens" on stage in her bra and panties, a crowd of drunken reprobates howling to see the rest of her act. She has no memory of where she is or how she got there; the last thing  she recalls was cooking dinner in her small downtown apartment.

Bolting  from the spotlight in near-panic, she manages to locate her shoulder  bag and leaves through a back exit before any of the bouncers can stop  her. From there, she has to make her way home wearing little more than garters and stockings.

Overcoming her initial shock, Lillian realizes she's the victim of a post-hypnotic command, one which transforms her from a timid book-keeper into a luscious, blonde striptease dancer. Worse still, she has no idea when her next blackout will occur!

Humiliated beyond words, Lillian goes to the authorities for assistance, but naturally, they refuse to believe her "ridiculous" story - after all, nobody can be hypnotized against their will, can they? Over the next few days, she loses her job, her reputation and even her closest friends.

Mocked by the law and rejected by her closest friends, Lillian is left with nothing but questions: when did she first fall under this spell, how can she reverse her programming and - most of all - who has been exploiting her for well over two years?

...according to this 2015 TV commercial, at least. Lingerie advertisements aren't known for their depictions of reality, but then again, fantasy has always reigned "Triumphant," so to speak.

Benny Hill: Jane Leeves

While British actress Jane Leeves is best-known for her run as Daphne Moon on NBC's Frasier, she actually started out as an extra on The Benny Hill Show, circa 1982 or thereabouts. In common with many of her Hill's Angels co-stars, she was required to show her knickers in between dance numbers:

Yes, that's right: as of 13 August, 2022, we've reached a grand total of 200,285 views - and the numbers continue to rise! Even more unbelievable: according to our stats, we scored more than 100,000 views within the last twelve months alone! 

What does all this mean? OK, let's try to put it into some kind of perspective. We established this blog waaaay back in May 2010, mainly as a database for lingerie scenes on film and TV. Following a couple of false starts, we bumbled along with a few hundred visits per month for the first eleven years (more or less the average for a niche blog like this), then suddenly our ratings shot through the ceiling.

What happened? None of us know for sure. The change came directly out of left field, catching all of us by surprise. We noticed a huge influx from Europe (particularly France) as well as a steady climb in Canada and the US, but we've yet to figure out how the digital landscape changed in such a short span of time. On the other hand, we have a few clues with might point us in the right direction.

First, there's Benny Hill. Benny has always been a perennial favorite on this site, with this post amassing 5047 views on its own. Seems that there's still a huge audience out there, thirty years after the great man's passing, and it's no secret that Benny's "silent comedies" appeal to a vast demographic on both sides of the Atlantic. Just goes to prove that some forms of humor transcend language and cultural barriers (especially when there are bras, knickers and beautiful young women involved). At present, we have no less than thirteen articles devoted to Benny's girls, and people simply can't get enough.

Another contributing factor might be diversity. Variety being the spice of life, we wanted to explore visual media of every conceivable form: film and TV, comics and cartoons, manga and anime; literally anything we could find in the uncharted corners of the Web (how did we ever survive without the internet?).

Benny Hill: Bus Stop

Bus Stop is the closing tag of The Benny Hill Show Episode 27 (March 24, 1976). Playing a stereotype "silly old duffer," Benny sneezes his way through one catastrophe after another, first blowing away a civil servant's (Henry McGee) newspaper before disrobing an attractive young brunette. A chase immediately ensues, with Duffo blowing away a tent (revealing two young campers in their underwear), felling a tree (provoking lumberjack Bob Todd to take after him with an axe) and demolishing a smoke stack before finally setting off a nuclear blast in the middle of London.

 

 

North of the Border

For some unknown reason, our northbound cousins didn't start producing sex comedies until the 1980s, but when they did...well, the results were impressive to say the least. Screwballs (1983) and its sequel Loose Screws (1985) contain some memorable lingerie scenes, including a full-blown striptease by Cynthia Belliveau at the climax of the second movie.

While there was very little outright nudity in either film, the directors took the humor as far as they could, having eager young starlets falling out of their clothes as often as the script permitted. The ever-popular faux "medical" examination was put to good use in both movies, as suggested by the screencaps posted below:

 

 

Dick Emery: Blink and You'll miss it...

An extremely short clip (21 seconds) from a 1980s English comedy. The humor paid tribute to The Benny Hill Show, even using the "silent film" format. Back in the day, hardly a week went by without some pretty young thing being stripped to her lingerie on British TV:

La Chica Videomatch 2

The girls from La Chica Videomatch are back, this time decked out in school uniforms. Unfortunately, the host still hasn't learnt to keep his mouth shut, insisting on interrupting at least four sensational dance routines with his inane commentary:

Jane Revisited

Following Jane's phenomenonally successful run in the 1940s, the Daily Mirror attempted two revivals of the character over the next three decades, first with the short-lived Jane, Daughter of Jane in the 1960s (Alfred Mazure, 1961-1963):

...followed by a mid-eighties reboot which updated the original heroine for a contemporary audience (1985-1990). Veteran cartoonist John M. Burns added an espionage parody recalling Jane's homefront adventures of the war years:

 

While both strips were initially well-received , neither managed to recapture the charm of Norman Pett's wide-eyed ingenue. Despite some truly knockout artwork from Burns and Mazure, the revivals simply couldn't match the patriotic fervor of their predecessor. Apparently, the key to success involves more than just a pretty blonde running around in her lingerie :)

Benny Hill: Garters Galore!

And now for another (in)famous chase scene from The Benny Hill Show! By the end of the eighties, the starring cast must have been stripped down to their underwear in every manner humanly possible, but apparently, the Old Reprobate still had a few tricks up his sleeve.

 

 

 

 

This 1986 closing sketch has Benny fleeing through the Dimpton countryside with the obligatory Traffic Wardens in hot pursuit. Inevitably, a chance encounter with a barbed wire fence leaves the girls in nothing but their bras and knickers, at which point the tables abruptly turn and the WPCs find themselves sprinting half-naked through the woods.

 

 

On the run again...

 

The skit appears to have been a fun shoot for everybody concerned; evidently the girls found running around in their stockings and garters as much of a thrill as we do. Interestingly, the scene posted above originally had the closing credits rolling over the action. We'd be very interested to know how they removed the titles for this animated gif. It seems to have been lifted from an old video compilation (as opposed to DVD), maybe there's an alternate source concealed somewhere on the net :)
