Spanish Comics: Anita Diminuta

Anita Diminuta was a Spanish comic strip featuring the adventures of a blond orphan girl and her talking bear, Mateo. Like many comics targeting young girls, Anita's storylines often revolved around fantasy and magic, featuring fairy-tale antagonists such as witches, wizards, goblins and trolls.

The stories were beautifully illustrated in a quasi-realistic style unusual for the time (1940s-1960s), and seemed to draw inspiration from popular children's books such as Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, Grimm's Fairy Tales and the stories of Hans Christian Anderson.
